Community Fundraisers in May!! - We will be having a Lou Malnati's fundraiser on May 22nd. Please bring this Lou Malnati's flyer with you.

You are Cordially Invited!!! Our final PTO general meeting of the year is on Tuesday, May 28th, 7:00 p.m. at Twin Groves. Please come. We will be deciding on the budget for next year, confirming our Exec Board and Chairpeople and completing our 2012-13 school year. All Chairpeople for 2013-14 should plan on attending to get their committee information.

The Last Hurrah... As we close out the school year the last two PTO events are treats to the students of Twin Groves. Our 8th graders are treated to ice cream on their last full day of school on May 31. The remaining 6th and 7th graders have a 'fine' dining experience on their last full day of school June 5th.

NOTICE regarding Special Lunch and Dessert Day for 2013/2014

Because District 96 receives state funding for our school lunch program, a special waiver was necessary to allow District 96 School PTOs to offer the option of Special Lunches and Dessert Days to our students. This waiver will expire on December 31st, 2013. It is the District’s intention to reapply for the waiver so that our PTOs can continue to make available the option of offering Special Lunches and Dessert Days.

District 96 PTOs will be working with their local food vendors to offer Special Lunches and Dessert Days September 2013 through December 2013; however, no additional ordering or collection for Special Lunches or Dessert Days can occur for the balance of the school year (i.e., Jan. 2014–June 2014) unless the next waiver request is approved.

If the waiver is approved again, we will determine our Special Lunch and Dessert Day options and notify you as soon as possible. Of course, this question of waiver renewal will affect the committees, volunteer schedules, and the ordering process.

As you may know, Dessert Days and Special Lunches generate a significant percentage of the revenue PTOs collect. If the waiver allowing Special Lunches and Dessert Days is not renewed, the negative impact on PTO budgets will be significant and affect future PTO programs and events and donations we were able to receive previously.

As it becomes available, we will share more information with our District 96 parent community. If you have any questions concerning this, you can contact the PTO presidents – Jodi Pease (jjpease@sbcglobal.net) or Dianne Newmark (thenewmarks@comcast.net).

Sincerely,
Twin Groves PTO
